Exercise Barrow Clump (Ring Ditch evaluation)
8th - 26th July 2019
A second year of assessment of the effects of ground pressure of military vehicles on the archaeology of Salisbury Plain. This time its prehistoric where we will look at some Early Bronze Age ring ditches – all that remains of a series of round-barrows. What is left? How well is it preserved?
Jobs will include: excavation, finds process assistance, topographical, site drawing and much more
We will be camping and it is Self-funding (for food) though we are working on this. There may be the potential for veterans to stay with Help for Heroes at Tedworth House. We will also try to gain the usual permission for shower usage there too.
For anyone that has worked at Barrow Clump on Ex Beowulf – the project should be just like this. We will be supported by a major Commercial Unit.
